Additional Details

Above the Arctic Circle northern Norway is the ‘Land of the Midnight Sun’. Tromsø is the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ and its striking Artic Cathedral and wonderful museums are a must to visit. An imposing wall of rugged peaks announces the Lofoten archipelago. Gravdal and Leknes are gateways to some of Norway’s most breathtaking landscapes steeped in Viking history. From tiny Honningsvaag you have the opportunity to visit the dramatic North Cape where, if the weather permits, you can view the sun hovering just above the horizon. Tórshavn is the charming capital of the remote Faroe Islands. Visit small towns and coastal villages where the lifestyle goes very much hand in hand with nature, and see towering sea stacks and cliffs, home to thousands of birds. An island of volcanic craters, lava flows, hot springs, geysers and glaciers, Iceland never ceases to amaze. From the capital Reykjavik you can marvel at the force of the Gulfoss Falls or relax in the incredible Blue Lagoon. Isafjördur sits on the West Fjords Peninsular where a scattering of islands is home to a wealth of birdlife. An awesome landscape of canyons, waterfalls, lava fields and surreal rock formations can be enjoyed from Akureyri, considered Iceland’s most attractive town.

In 2015 Magellan will become the proud new flagship of the CMV fleet and like the Marco Polo and Azores will operate as an adult friendly ship. At 46,052grt she will carry about 1250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks serviced by eight lifts. Her wide corridors and stairways and expansive deck areas with wood type decking in many areas exude a real feeling of spaciousness with a wide range of comfortable well appointed lounges and panoramic seating and observation areas ideally suited to our scenic cruise programme. Combining expansive, comfortable surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Magellan is the perfect choice for those looking for a greater range of on board facilities. However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today. No climbing walls or ice-skating rinks and no kids!

95% of CMV guests have rated the enjoyment of their cruise experience either excellent or good.
